There was a problem - ascii wasn't accepted as art. It was just pictures, nothing more. Naturally, artists didn't like such situation.

They started convincing everyone, that ascii is art. The highest art, the art of cybernation. The public opinion was changing, and these days it reached the wanted point. But during all this time didn't change like attitude to it did, it is craft just like as it was before. Not every ascii creator is an artist.

But we have been persuaded already, that what we have is an art. So the real art conflicts with what we have. And it caused the admiration of antilasting, promoted to the God rank. This admiration is so strong that sometimes antilasting can save the work which has no composition, no colour and no idea.

They admire at ability to put the complex pictures into the frames of pseudo-graphics. People, try avoid looking at the symbols themselves! Imagine that you're looking at the ordinary graphics, not at the simulation! What will your eyes discover? What are you admiring at?

Ascii-art must not be the art of converting, even from your head to the screen. It must be the masterpiece itself. Ascii picture must have the print of being born in the computer environment, i.e. the result of the creative realization must be located in the digital environment or in its simulation. And how can this be done - well, it is the skill worth admiring, if the picture is worth admiring itself.

ps. I never could understood those people walking in the russian museum, admiring portraits and landscapes...
