What ay-riders is? First, I found micromusic scene. Many, many fans of chiptune/low-tech sound. People who dance to chiptunes on discoteques, DJs remixing these songs... I was very surprised. Low-tech music is veeeeeeryyyyy popular all over the world. There are many sites related with micromusic, people play it on Atari ST, Amiga, PC sometimes, Atari 8-bit, C64, Gameboy, MSX, Vic-20, Atari 2600 and many others... And I wanted to make it on ZX SPECTRUM. I wanted to make ZX to be known outside of Speccy scene. And I managed to do it. Now many many people know about great sound of ZX SPECTRUM, and everything thanx to such great musicians, like Jeffie, Factor6, Gasman, TDM, Megus and others... We founded AY-RIDERS chiptune band. It was in 2002. First I found on the Net some low-tech bands. One of them was YM-ROCKERZ: the band consists of Atari ST fans. They use the same sound-chip which we use - AY/YM. They were publishing their songs on the Net in kind of albums, in MP3 files. And it was great, 'cause it allowed to every non-Atari user to listen to their songs. It was a great idea: to let the people outside of the scene listen music from some platform (ST in this case). Therefore I decided to gain the best ZX musicians and publish our songs on Internet, in MP3 files - to let the 'non-zx-fans' know that Speccy is still alive and kicking. And it can generate beautiful music. :) Until today we published 3 records. 2002 - 2003 - 2004 years. All of them are free-downloadable from the Net. We have a very positive feedback from ppl from whole world (which is interesting, mostly japanese ppl download our music). Our music has been played on several radiostations, there was even a radio show about us, once. :) Now we will play a concert and we hope everything will be OK. :) Our purpose is to give maximal pleasure to all chiptune-maniax. We are fans of extremly synthetic sound and chiptune-aesthetic. We love our computer and its soundchip. We want to approach Speccy music-scene to all people outside of zx-scene. Like I wrote on our site: "You can find here really fuckinÒ good chiptunes and You donÒt need Speccy to play them. You need only WinAmp and then You will go to the synthetic paradise.
